To be clear: Your browser is the program you are using to visit the websites on the Internet. If you did not install any browser yourself it will be the standard windows built in browser: "Microsoft Internet explorer".
To be able to see the websites as meant by John the things below must comply:

Browser Microsoft Internet explorer version 4 or above. (Standard since windows 95)
If not: Some features won't work, layout mistakes, error warnings.
Screen resolution 800x600 of 1024x768 pixels. (Today it is standard if a graphics carddriver is installed)
If not: Layout mistakes
Color depth minimum 16bits. (Today it is standard if a graphics carddriver is installed)
If not: Pictures look strange and color surfaces get lined/rastered.
Javascript enabled. (Standard since windows 95)
If not: Some features won't work, layout mistakes, errors. Some pages and photo enlargements are unavailable.
Font Font: "Verdana" has to be present. (Normally it is.)
If not: Layout mistakes
Flash Flash-plugin installed or permission to install on visit.
If not: Some pages won't work or some parts of pages won't work.
popup-killer or firewall If installed then New window "on-click" must be allowed.(Standard not installed.)
If not: Photo enlargements and some pages are unavailable.
